A huge congratulations to Dr. Alec Batts for successfully defending his thesis, titled "Development and Optimization of Image-Guided Transcranial Gene Delivery to the Brain with Focused and Theranostic Ultrasound."

This is an incredible accomplishment, and we couldn’t be more proud of Alec’s hard work and dedication. The innovative contributions from this research hold great promise for advancements in non-invasive brain therapies.

Well done, Alec!

Congratulations to Sua Bae on her new faculty position in the Department of Electronic Engineering at Sogang University in Seoul, Korea. While we’ll miss having her as part of our team, we’re excited for her as she embarks on this new opportunity.

During her time at UEIL, Sua made significant contributions to our research, particularly in focused ultrasound for blood-brain barrier opening with real-time treatment monitoring. Her development of cavitation mapping and vascular response techniques has been crucial in advancing our work in both pre-clinical and clinical studies for…

We’re pleased to announce that Sua Bae's latest paper, "Transcranial blood-brain barrier opening in Alzheimer's disease patients using a portable focused ultrasound system with real-time 2-D cavitation mapping," has been accepted for publication in Theranostics.

This study highlights a novel approach in Alzheimer's research, showcasing the potential of a portable focused ultrasound system for safely opening the blood-brain barrier.

Congratulations to Seongyeon Kim and UEIL neuromodulation team for their outstanding work, "Displacement and functional ultrasound (fUS) imaging of displacement-guided focused ultrasound (FUS) neuromodulation in mice,", which has been accepted to be published in NeuroImage. This work leveraged displacement and functional imaging simultaneously with FUS and first provided the mapping of displacement and hemodynamic activation in response to FUS neuromodulation. Check out the paper here!

We are excited to announce that our lab will be represented at the Alzheimer's Association International Conference in Philadelphia from July 28 to August 1.

Rebecca Noel will be delivering a lecture titled "Preliminary Evidence for the Combined Efficacy," and Amy Shteyman will be presenting a poster on "Characterizing the Effects of Focused Ultrasound Therapy in Healthy Alzheimer's Disease Neurons."
