AGAPE Trial Launches to Enhance Arrhythmia Mapping with Electromechanical Wave Imaging
The Ultrasound Elasticity Imaging Laboratory (UEIL) at Columbia University is pleased to announce the launch of the NIH-funded AGAPE trial (Ablation Guided by Precision Electromechanical Wave Imaging). Led by Dr. Elaine Wan and Dr. Anthony Biviano, and supported by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI), the study aims to use ultrasound-based Electromechanical Wave Imaging (EWI) developed at UEIL to noninvasively map cardiac arrhythmias and guide ablation procedures.
The AGAPE trial will explore how EWI can improve the precision of arrhythmia treatment by providing detailed imaging of the heart’s electrical activity, potentially allowing for more targeted and effective ablation therapy. This work is being conducted in collaboration with NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center, the Columbia Department of Biomedical Engineering, and the Division of Cardiology.
