Ph.D. Student

Academic Qualifications

  • M.S., Biomedical Engineering, Columbia University (New York, NY, USA), 2023
  • B.S., Physics, University of Manchester (Manchester, UK) and Beijing Normal University (Beijing, CN), 2021

Biography

Shiqi Hu graduated from Columbia University in February 2023 with a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering. During her MS, she joined UEIL to develop an automatic lesion size assessment method for single-transducer harmonic motion imaging using deep learning techniques. Shiqi enrolled in the Ph.D. program in the fall of 2023.

Her research focuses on focused ultrasound tumor ablation, AI-assisted medical imaging, and anti-tumor immunity, with an overarching goal of advancing noninvasive, point-of-care breast disease treatment through engineering and biological approaches.

Awards

2025 International Ultrasonics Symposium Student Travel Award, IEEE UFFC, Utrecht, Netherlands

2023 Van C. Mow Dean's Presidential Doctoral Fellowship, Columbia University, NY, USA
