Biography

Shemar graduated from Columbia University in 2021 with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering. As an undergraduate at Columbia, he conducted research in the Kelley Lab studying neural circuits underlying vocal production in Xenopus laevis, as well as in the Hess Lab working on image analysis pipelines for biological imaging. He completed his M.S. in Biomedical Engineering with a focus on Neural Engineering at Northwestern University in 2024, where his research centered on stroke neurorehabilitation and motor recovery assessments. His work involved EMG and EEG signal processing and analysis using MATLAB. Shemar joined UEIL in 2026 as a Research Assistant, supporting the EWI and PWI teams.
