Biography
Julia (Seungyeon) is originally from Seoul, South Korea. She double-majored in Applied Mathematics and Statistics & Pure Mathematics for her undergraduate studies and received her M.S. in Applied Mathematics and Statistics in 2021 at Stony Brook University. During her undergraduate studies, she was a research assistant whose research focuses on improving stochastic algorithms with survival analysis and Gaussian process in Biostatistics field. In her Master’s Program, she conducted a cross-species SARS CoV-2 genome analysis project which made her find deep interests in fields that fuse biology, statistics, and computer programming.
Julia joined the Ultrasound Elasticity Imaging Laboratory (UEIL) as a research assistant in December 2021. She is currently working with the myocardial elastography and electromechanical wave imaging teams in UEIL. Julia is assisting with clinical cardiac and vascular imaging studies, maintaining and optimizing the MATLAB / CUDA codes, and assisting in experimental data analysis.
