Biography
J. Drayton Darby is from Sarasota, Florida and graduated from the University of South Florida with a B.S degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2023. During his undergraduate career in 2022, Drayton participated in an NSF funded REU at the University of Texas at San Antonio in the Medical Design Innovations Laboratory. There he did electrical development for a novel medical suction device meant to be deployed on the battlefield. In 2023 John interned at Jabil Healthcare to lead a small team of interns on the research and development of an in-vitro diagnostic reagent dispenser. In the Fall of 2023, Drayton came to Columbia University to pursue a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering and joined the UEIL in 2024 to help the design and development of acoustic holograms for transcranial focused ultrasound.
