Alec Batts Receives the 2025 Yuen-huo Hung and Chao-chin Huang Graduate Award

April 16, 2025

Congratulations to Alec Batts on being selected as a recipient of the 2025 Yuen-huo Hung and Chao-chin Huang Graduate Award by Columbia’s Department of Biomedical Engineering!

This prestigious award is presented annually to two graduating doctoral students who have made significant contributions to biomedical engineering and public health, and who exemplify the role of an ambassador for the field. The award honors the legacies of Professor Clark T. Hung’s grandfathers—Yuen-huo Hung, a compassionate surgeon in Taipei, and Chao-chin Huang, a distinguished politician who served as Mayor of Taipei and Consul General to the United States.

Alec’s exceptional research, dedication, and impact within the field make him a truly deserving recipient of this honor. The award will be officially announced during the 2025 DBME Retreat on May 15 (rain date: May 16), and a media feature highlighting Alec’s work is forthcoming.

Congratulations, Alec — well earned and well deserved! 🎉
